Embrapa Soja and the companies supporting the Low Carbon Soy Program (PSBC) will hold this April 11th, starting at 8:15 am, the 1st Low Carbon Soy Forum, at the Smart Agro Pavilion, during Expo Londrina, in Londrina (PR). This Forum marks the beginning of joint activities between Embrapa and the PSBC supporting companies: Bayer, Bunge, Cargill, Coamo, Cocamar, GDM, UPL), which seek with this initiative to add value to soy produced in systems that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which cause global warming.
During the opening ceremony, a term of commitment will be signed between the organizations that are creating the SBC protocol guidelines. “We are in line with global demands to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in chains and products”, declares the general head of Embrapa Soja, Alexandre Nepomuceno. “In this sense, I understand that a sectoral innovation effort is needed to stimulate mitigation, carbon sequestration and carbon capture and storage in the soy production process. Our proposal is to recognize Brazilian rural producers who have already been using sustainable technologies, as well as expanding the adoption of systems guided by sustainability”, argues Nepomuceno.
